Last Wednesday, PLNT community member Peter Rowe ‘s startup Triple Bio came out of stealth mode!
Peter Rowe previously worked at PLNT with his startup Deep Branch. This startup was acquired by Denmark’s Airbio in 2024. Now this inspiring entrepreneur is back with a new startup in the agricultural sector.
About Triple Bio
Triple Bio is developing a lipid-based platform for cattle feed additives (RumeNRG). This platform is designed to enhance existing methane inhibitors and redirect hydrogen in the rumen of cattle to more productive fermentation processes. This could both increase milk production and reduce methane emissions.
With this technology platform, Triple Bio is working on two solutions of interest to the agricultural sector:
- By making methane inhibitors smarter and more efficient, cows emit less methane. This reduces greenhouse gas emissions per cow.
- In addition, Triple Bio is trying to convert the energy normally lost to methane production into usable energy for the cow. This may allow a cow to produce more milk with the same amount of feed.
For farmers, sustainability alone is often not sufficient reason to adopt new technology. Because this solution may also provide higher milk production and more efficient feed use, the product may become economically attractive to the agricultural sector.
How to move forward?
Triple Bio is preparing to move from laboratory simulations to live animal trials later this year.
These trials serve as proof-of-concept for a larger round of funding planned for next year. According to Rowe, while the animal trials are essential, the laboratory results are already promising.
In the coming years, the company plans to work toward bringing these two promising products together into a single product line.
