Cool news! Gateway Bio, startup from the unlock_ cohort 2026-2027, won both the audience award and the Rough Diamond Award at the Philips Innovation Awards on Tuesday night!
Earlier this year, the startup also won the top prize at the Gulliver Awards in Leiden.
About Gateway Bio
Gateway Bio is a biotech startup that aims to address antibiotic resistance with a new type of drug delivery system. They are developing a modular nanocarrier platform that delivers antibiotics directly into bacterial cells, bypassing bacterial defense mechanisms. The platform is widely applicable to different types of antibiotics and works against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
The startup convinced both the judges and the audience with a powerful speech and a clear explanation of its product.
In addition to their awards, they were also officially announced last week as a spin-off from the University of Twente.
