Imagine this: a world where we no longer have waste, where we reuse everything and where stuff doesn’t end up in a landfill, but gets a new life. Sounds good, right? Th\u00e1t is what circularity is all about! But why is it so important? And how do we achieve these goals together? We’ll bring you along in the world of circularity. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Are you curious about what circularity is? Read the article\u2018Circulair(der) leven hoeft niet moeilijk te zijn\u2019<\/a> on the website of The Field. Our planet is suffering: we consume more than the earth can produce and our mountains of waste are growing daily. In the Netherlands, for example, we produce almost 490 kilos of waste per person per year. We have therefore always assumed a linear model. That means: you make it, you use it and you throw it away. <\/p>\n

With waste piles bulging, circularity is more important than ever. In a circular economy, products are designed so that they last longer, can be repaired and are eventually fully recycled. This has a huge positive impact on the environment. Less waste means less pollution, less resource extraction and a smaller ecological footprint. Very important. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

But how do we achieve this? It all starts with awareness and cooperation. Circularity is not something you can do alone. It requires a collective effort from individuals, companies and governments. Everyone has a role to play. Leiden municipality is one of the players that has circularity high on its agenda. These include a subsidy scheme for circular initiatives and concrete steps in applying circularity in public spaces in particular. <\/p>\n

In Leiden, there are many citizens, entrepreneurs and knowledge institutions that want to do their bit in the field of circularity. To bring those changemakers together, the municipality of Leiden, together with PLNT, organises the annual event Leiden Meets Circular. The event provides ideas, contacts and insights that we grow directly from. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
