The third monday of January is known as Blue Monday: the most depressing day of the year. The holidays are over, it’s dark for longer and there are no free holidays to look forward too. And it’s also a monday, so makes sense for it not to be the best day of the year, right? That’s what the company Sky Travel thought as well. Because of that thought, they hired a psychologist who made up a formula which defined Blue Monday as the most depressing day of the year. The result? More bookings for vacations to the sun.
Blue Monday might not have any scientific background, but that doesn’t change the fact that most people would rather skip out on January. That’s why we at PLNT want to help you survive this Blue Monday. Because honestly, isn’t every monday a little blue?
Tip 1: Go on a vacation today
No, we’re just kidding. But when the days are dark, it could definitely help to start thinking about your next vacation to a sunny place. Just the idea of a vacation in a sunny place (far away from work) could make this monday a little more bearable. And, to all the entrepreneurs in the PLNT-Community: what do you think of a working holiday?
Tip 2: Treat yourself today
Sometimes it’s just necessary to take a little more care of yourself. You’re definitely not the only one that rather stays in bed this monday. According to the Hersenstichting, relaxing is important for a healthy life. Without sufficient relaxation your body won’t be able to recover anymore, it’ll be harder to stay focused, your sleep will get bad and it will become harder to remember things. Even more important to get some rest today. Grab your favorite book, turn on a movie, and relax!
Tip 3: Move more
Excercising is one of the best things you could do to get out of a dip. We understand, moving is probably the last thing you want to do on this Blue Monday. But trust us, when you start moving, you’ll feel better quickly. Don’t want to excercise by yourself? Then sign up for the PLNT-sportclub! Is excercising really too much for you on a monday? Then walk for a bit on your lunchbreak. Even that could be enough to feel better and enjoy the fresh air.
Happy Monday?
Hopefully we were able to make your Blue Monday a little less blue. And, if that’s not the case: don’t worry, tomorrow it’s already Tuesday.
