On Friday the 9th November, during the Day of Urban Agriculture, PLNT received a check worth € 49,990 from the alderman for Sustainability, Martine Leeuwis, for the realization of an iconic, sustainable showcase and test environment on the roof of Langegracht 70. The roof garden that PLNT wants to realize becomes an unique place in the heart of the city in the middle of the Singel Park for students, startups, entrepreneurs, organizations and local residents. An unique location where space is offered for experiments, workshops, meetings and challenges of tomorrow that can be shown and tested in collaboration with students from Hogeschool Leiden, Leiden University and other educational institutions.
The contribution from the municipality is part of a greater ambition to make the city more sustainable. The contribution will add extra green to the public space, make innovations visible and applicable to the city and region, and provide space for the Green Deal partners of the Sustainable Kilometer to test and further develop ideas before they land in the city.
